The National Feast of Peru is approaching in Aichi Expo Japan 2005. And in Toyokawa city, professor Kawakami, rehearse to improve the interpretation of the peruvian national anthem, the band members still are out of tune. Cynthia Mayerhoffer and Miguel Fujita, two Peruvian migrants teaches Japanese girls to dance huayno, to them teaching dances represents breaking the factory routine and tedium. While everyone is rehearsing the Peruvian delegation arrives in Toyokawa with Manuel Miranda´s band. The night before the opening, his musicians play rhythms that fusion Peruvian and rock sounds. Tinkuy, accompanies these preparations until the central day, July 28, when everyone is on the stage of Aichi Expo theatre. There will be a magical exchange between Japanese and Peruvian artists achieving an inspiring musical experience that will reunite two cultures with many things in common.
Friendship Festival
21 countries were invited to Aichi to produce in 21 days short films (30 min.) dedicated to the National Day of each country. These shorts films competed at the Expo Friendship Festival – Aichi 2005, and the Peruvian documentary Tinkuy directed by Judith Vélez was awarded with the Gold Award.
